Battlefield 2D
Wouldn’t it be cool to play a game with the same game mechanics like Battlefield, playing it in your browser while having a break? While being in my third year of study, GameDesign and Development at the High school for Art Utrecht, I got the chance to work this game out.
The plan was to create a 2D game in flash with the game mechanics of Battlefield. With just three and a half weeks to develop the game, I had to make some consensus, otherwise the game would be far of finished. So no mutliplayer or what so ever, just Player vs CPU. Also just one map and no time to arrange some sound/music. To give the teammembers who are not player controlled a good behaviour, and some knowledge about how to move through the level, I used pathnodes and precalculated routes. This means that it wouldn’t take much CPU power for pathfinding while playing the game.
